Objective of the webinar: 

  • To discuss key actions and different approaches taken by members to develop their national standardization strategy 
  • To initiate a network for members to learn from each other/region and to get insights on moving forward based on the best practices from other members already implementing the NSS
  • To hear from the members on the implementation plan of NS

Target Audience

ISO members in the Africa and the Asia-Pacific region who are currently developing or reviewing their national standardization strategy.
(Open to NSB staff, board members, NSS task force members and other NSB stakeholders)

Patrick joined the ISO CS and the Capacity building unit 2 years ago, where he took over the national standardization strategies programme.
Before ISO, Patrick has been working in capacity building and technical assistance units for different United Nations organizations in Geneva and in Benin.

Mr Papa Secka is the Director General of The Gambia Standards Bureau, which he helped set up in 2011.  Prior to this, Mr Secka has held senior managerial positions in Government and Private sector in environmental regulation, petroleum and aviation industries.  He sits in several national advisory Committees and is a member of the ECOWAS regional Technical Management Committee for harmonization of standards. Mr Secka holds a Bachelors degree in Industrial Chemistry, a Masters in Process Control Technology and in an IRCA-Certified Lead Auditor of ISO 9001 QMS and ISO 22000 FSMS.

Ellia is the lead of the board of agency researchers assessors as well as the member of the unit’s research assessment team, where she leads the research with internal and external funding sources. With experiences of an oral presenter in international seminar with proceedings of global repute, Ellia also issued several publications in international journal and proceedings indexing by scopus and google scholar, accredited national journals, and books at national publisher.

Adrian Goh oversees the ISO Asia Regional Engagement Initiative Asia Office, which supports 27 members in the Asia Pacific region.  He had been involved in a number of regional standardization meetings to support regional harmonization initiatives and capacity building initiatives such as the national standardization strategies workshop.

Adrian has been actively involved in international and regional standardization activities for more than 15 years - both in his current role as Asia Regional Engagement Director and past experiences as Co-Chair of PASC Working Group on Capacity Building and Trade Facilitation and Co-Chair of ASEAN Working Group on Harmonisation of Standards and Mutual Recognition Arrangements.
