The international market for baby strollers is a growing one, leading to concerns around safety and quality in equal measure.

While many nations and regions have regulations to address this, they may differ from country to country, making international trade tricky and reassuring consumers even more so.

ISO 31110, Wheeled child conveyances – Pushchairs and prams – Requirements and test methods, provides internationally agreed best practice on the requirements and test methods to produce safe and performing products.

Through harmonizing many of the diverse national and regional regulations, it is expected that widespread use of this standard could lower costs of compliance over the long term.

The standard was published by project committee ISO/PC 310, Wheeled child conveyances, which has now been upgraded to a more permanent technical committee (ISO/TC 310), whose secretariat is held by AFNOR, ISO’s member for France.

Future standards by the committee will address the performance and safety requirements of other types of wheeled transportation products, such as child seats on bikes and jogger strollers, articles for seating and body care, such as cradles, baby bathtubs and booster seats, and many other products.

ISO 31110 can be purchased from your national ISO member or the ISO Store.
